Jeff Shell Steps Down as Paramount President

Must read

Jeff Shell has announced his departure as President of Paramount Skydance Corp. (PSKY) and from its Board of Directors. This transition follows a lawsuit filed against him, alleging violations of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations.

Paramount Skydance Corp. issued a statement asserting that it found no SEC violation. The company described the claims in the lawsuit as “baseless” and indicated that Mr. Shell is pursuing “forceful legal action” to address them.

According to the company, Mr. Shell chose to step down from his positions to concentrate on the ongoing legal proceedings, a decision framed as consistent with his commitment to prioritizing PSKY’s success. The company also extended its gratitude to Mr. Shell for his contributions and advisory role.

The lawsuit, seeking $150 million, was filed by R.J. Cipriani, identified as a gambler and whistleblower. It accuses Mr. Shell of sharing confidential information, thereby violating SEC rules. Mr. Shell has not yet commented publicly on the allegations.

Mr. Shell’s role within the company had reportedly been uncertain since February, when Paramount secured a winning bid to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Reports last month suggested that Mr. Shell was not involved in the acquisition discussions and lacked a clear role within the newly combined entity.

This marks Mr. Shell’s second high-profile departure from a major media company in recent years. He previously resigned as CEO of NBCUniversal in 2023 after admitting to an “inappropriate relationship” with an employee.
