Thailand’s largest data center and cloud service provider, True Internet Data Center (True IDC), has announced plans for a new mega data center located within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). This development is one of several significant projects approved under a Board of Investment (BOI) promotion, collectively valued at over 77 billion THB. The initiative aims to advance Thailand’s “Security Economy,” reinforce data sovereignty, and enhance the nation’s competitiveness in the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) era. The first operational phase is scheduled for 2027.
The new facility, designated an AI Hyperscale data center, is engineered to support the expanding requirements of cloud, digital, and AI systems. It will feature a substantial total power capacity of up to 250 MW. The design incorporates a fully modular architecture and a “platform play” strategy, intended to facilitate quicker construction, streamline system deployment, and accelerate service delivery to market.
True IDC, part of the Charoen Pokphand Group and in partnership with GIP-BlackRock, will leverage its experience serving global hyperscalers. The company previously pioneered hosting advanced GPU processing systems for AI in Thailand. The upcoming center will also introduce a cutting-edge power architecture aimed at improving electrical efficiency and mitigating operational and maintenance risks. This focus on uninterrupted business continuity is complemented by sustainable energy management, targeting a top-tier Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) level.
Mr. Thanasorn Jaidee, President of True IDC, cited Krungsri Research (2026–2028) projections, which anticipate an average annual growth of 6.8% in digital services and software revenue, thereby increasing demand for advanced digital infrastructure. He emphasized that alongside speed and agility, proactive security is now essential.
Mr. Jaidee stated that the data center is committed to serving as a vital engine for both the “Security Economy” and the Digital Economy. This includes fostering technological independence, safeguarding critical national data, and ensuring the continuous operation of systems across public and private sectors. True IDC has been a data center and cloud service provider for 23 years.
