The state logistics agency Bulog has announced its plan to distribute 828,000 tons of rice under the food price and supply stabilization (SPHP) program, slated to run throughout 2026. This initiative aims to maintain rice prices, ensuring they remain controlled and affordable for the public.

Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated in Jakarta on Friday that the rice distribution primarily targets traditional markets to achieve price stability.

Beyond traditional markets, the agency will also supply rice to Red and White Village Cooperatives, ensuring a consistent supply of both SPHP and premium rice at all their outlets. Bulog also actively participates in the cheap food movement (GPM) alongside various government ministries, agencies, and regional administrations, designed to alleviate the financial burden on citizens for essential goods.

The distribution network further extends to include outlets supported by regional governments, cooperatives owned by regional enterprises, government agency cooperatives, and the extensive Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) network, which encompasses approximately 80,000 locations nationwide. To broaden public access, SPHP rice is also made available through supermarkets and other modern retail establishments.

The rice is packaged in 5-kilogram bags, with plans to introduce 2-kilogram packages. Classified as medium quality, it adheres to government standards, featuring a broken grain rate of approximately 25 percent and a moisture content of 14 percent.

Sales of SPHP rice are set at the highest retail price (HET) according to three zonal categories. For Zone 1, which includes Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and Sulawesi, the price is Rp12,500 per kilogram.

Zone 2, covering Sumatra (excluding Lampung and South Sumatra), East Nusa Tenggara, and Kalimantan, has a price of Rp13,100 per kilogram. Meanwhile, Zone 3, comprising Maluku and Papua, is priced at Rp13,500 per kilogram.
