German Senior Killed in Lampung Blaze

A 92-year-old German national tragically died in a house fire that erupted in Kampung Jawa Village, Pesisir Barat, Lampung, during the early hours of Monday morning. The victim was identified as Helena Vera Otto.

Pesisir Barat fire official Cahyadi stated that the blaze commenced around 3:30 a.m. Local residents were quick to report the fire, prompting an immediate response from firefighting teams who were dispatched to the residential area. The intensity of the fire required prompt action to prevent further spread within the community.

Upon the firefighters’ arrival at the scene, the property owner provided critical information, indicating that an individual was still trapped inside the burning structure. Cahyadi elaborated, stating, “According to the homeowner, an elderly foreign woman was still within her room as the fire began to consume parts of the dwelling.”

Emergency personnel initiated efforts to contain and extinguish the significant fire. Once the flames were successfully brought under control and the premises were deemed safe for entry, search teams conducted a thorough sweep of the damaged property. It was during this search that Ms. Otto’s body was discovered on the floor, positioned beside her bed within the room.

Following her identification by local law enforcement officers, Ms. Otto’s remains were carefully evacuated from the site of the incident. Her body was subsequently transported to a nearby health facility to undergo further forensic examination. Authorities are anticipated to launch a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the fatal fire.
