Gradiant Awarded Major Water Contract for UK Hyperscale Data Center

Must read

Gradiant, a global provider of advanced water and wastewater solutions, has been awarded a contract to design and construct a water treatment facility for a hyperscale data center in Didcot, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. This project will support a leading artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure provider, with the facility being developed on the site of a former power station.

The accelerating growth of data centers worldwide has made water availability a significant challenge for their construction and expansion. Consequently, operators are increasingly seeking partners who can guarantee consistent water performance across their entire sites.

Gradiant’s solution for the Didcot facility includes an integrated system for water treatment, recycling, and zero liquid discharge. This design is engineered to ensure stable cooling operations while simultaneously reducing overall water usage and minimizing environmental footprint.

The company’s approach, termed “Site-Wide Peace of Mind,” involves taking comprehensive ownership of water performance throughout the entire facility. This method integrates water treatment, reuse, and operational reliability under a single accountable partner, aiming to reduce risks, simplify operations, and maintain consistent performance in resource-constrained settings.

Philipp Sausele, Managing Director of Gradiant Europe, commented that the project reflects the company’s ability to combine in-depth regional expertise with its global technological platform to deliver critical infrastructure confidently. He noted the balance between understanding local regulatory and environmental conditions and leveraging proven solutions deployed worldwide allows for reliable large-scale execution.

Prakash Govindan, Gradiant’s CEO, stated that the expansion of AI is prompting substantial infrastructure development, with water emerging as a critical limiting factor. He articulated Gradiant’s role in building essential water infrastructure for future industries and highlighted the strategy of partnering with leading infrastructure players to provide resilient and sustainable solutions where reliability is non-negotiable.

This contract further strengthens Gradiant’s presence at the intersection of water management and AI infrastructure, where performance, sustainability, and reliability are essential components for success.
