Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto convened a significant government work meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, where he commended his administration’s performance over its initial 1.5 years. He specifically highlighted the government’s success in guiding the nation’s development direction.
Addressing an audience of approximately 800 senior officials, including ministers, heads of state agencies, and security figures, President Prabowo stated that his leadership had enabled the nation to effectively manage various challenges amidst increasing geopolitical uncertainties. He affirmed the government’s proven effectiveness and reliability in executing its state duties during this period.
The President attributed this strong performance to numerous achievements that have delivered tangible impacts across multiple sectors nationwide. However, he clarified that a primary objective of the large-scale gathering, which also included leaders from state-owned enterprises, was to establish strategic directives. These directives aim to prompt government aides to continually enhance their performance in response to evolving circumstances.
During the meeting, President Prabowo cautioned bureaucrats about mounting global risks. He specifically pointed to potential disruptions in the supply of energy, food, and water, which he warned could trigger crises in many countries, including Indonesia. He also alerted officials to the negative aspects of technological advancements, noting the country’s vulnerability to threats from hoaxes and manipulative digital content generated using artificial intelligence.
The meeting commenced around 2 p.m. local time, with President Prabowo appearing in his signature white safari shirt and black peci hat. The majority of attendees were similarly dressed, while military officials wore their respective uniforms.
