Indonesia’s national field hockey team secured a 4-3 victory over Kazakhstan in a Group A fixture of the 2026 Asian Games qualifiers. The match took place on Sunday at the Royal Thai Air Force Hockey Field in Bangkok, Thailand. This win follows a mixed performance earlier in the tournament, which included an initial 4-3 triumph against Hong Kong on Thursday, April 2, and a 1-4 loss to Oman on Friday, April 3.

The Indonesian squad demonstrated an aggressive approach from the outset against Kazakhstan. Ahdan Asasi opened the scoring for Indonesia in the sixth minute, followed by his second goal nine minutes later, establishing an early lead. Prastyo further extended Indonesia’s advantage with a goal in the 31st minute.

Kazakhstan mounted a response when Yerkebulan Dyussebekov found the net in the 44th minute, narrowing the deficit. However, Indonesia maintained its composure, executing a counterattack that culminated in a goal from Khaerulloh Akmal, once again widening their lead. Despite late efforts from Kazakhstan, with Agymtay Duisengazy scoring two goals, they were unable to overcome Indonesia’s advantage before the final whistle.

Coach Muhammad Dhaarma Raj’s team achieved this result as part of their objective to win their remaining matches in the qualifier. With the victory over Kazakhstan, Indonesia now faces host nation Thailand in their final group stage match on Monday, April 6.

To secure direct qualification for the 2026 Asian Games, Indonesia must finish among the top two teams in their pool. This position would also grant them a spot in the qualification semifinals. The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to be held in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
