Indonesia’s para-archery team achieved a notable performance at the World Archery Para Series in Bangkok, held from March 30 to April 4. The team concluded the competition with three gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.
Gold medals were secured across several recurve categories. Kholidin emerged victorious in the men’s individual recurve. The women’s recurve team, comprising Noviera Ross and Riyanti Ananda, claimed top honors, while Ananda also partnered with Kholidin to win gold in the mixed recurve team event.
Kholidin’s individual recurve gold came after a dominant performance throughout the series. He began by defeating Thailand’s Thotsaphon Prasoet 6-0, then South Korea’s Jihoon Lee 6-2. He edged out Thailand’s Hanreuchai Netsiri 6-5 in the quarterfinals and secured his final spot with a 6-0 win against teammate Setiawan. Kholidin then clinched gold, defeating India’s Harvinder Singh 7-3.
Setiawan, Kholidin’s semi-final opponent, secured a bronze medal in the men’s recurve, defeating South Korea’s Kwak Geon-hwi 6-2. Riyanti Ananda also claimed an individual bronze in the women’s recurve, winning 6-5 against Slovenia’s Ziva Lavrinc for third place.
In team competition, Ross and Ananda secured gold with a 5-3 victory over Thailand’s Phattharaphon Pattawaeo and Nampet Phullphol. The mixed recurve team of Ananda and Kholidin earned another gold, defeating Thailand’s Phattharaphon Pattawaeo and Hanreuchai Netsiri 6-2.
A silver medal was secured in the mixed compound category by Teodora Audi Ayudia Ferelly and Arif Firmansyah. They lost to India’s Sheetal Devi and Toman Kumar 146-153 in the final.
The official medal tally from World Archery placed Indonesia second overall. The team’s six medals positioned them behind India, which led the series with seven gold, three silver, and three bronze.
